Karen

United States

In 1986, equipped with a BCom degree and a strong passion for finance, Karen married in India and chose to dedicate her early adulthood to nurturing her family and raising her children. Her life took a major turn in 1995 when her husband’s career required a global relocation to the United States. Before receiving her Green Card, Karen navigated the transition as a dependent homemaker, legally restricted from seeking employment due to initial visa regulations. She kept her professional dreams alive in the background until 2000, when the long-awaited arrival of her Green Card officially granted her the legal right to re-enter the workforce.

Stepping confidently into corporate America, Karen transformed her legal freedom into a thriving 15-year career as an accountant, working continuously from 2000 until 2015. Over a decade and a half, she managed ledgers and built up the mandatory credits necessary to firmly secure her independent U.S. Social Security retirement benefits. Following 15 years of dedicated professional service, the arrival of her grandchildren signaled a meaningful new era, prompting Karen to retire comfortably and return to her family roots, having completely fulfilled her personal and professional goals.
