My name is Tate. I was born in 1963 in Meru County, Kenya, and started school in 1969. I continued my education and training until 1994, after which I began working and building a life for myself and my family.
Over the years, I eventually moved to Namibia and settled in Windhoek. I have nine children, and much of my working life has been focused on providing for and supporting my family.
In 2022, I opened a small corner store in Windhoek. The shop is now my main source of income. Running the business can be challenging because of the cost of stock, competition and periods of slow sales, but it allows me to remain independent and continue earning a living.
I do not have a pension, so retirement is one of my concerns. For now, I plan to keep working and rely on my business and family as I get older. Looking back, my life has been shaped by education, hard work, migration, family responsibilities and the determination to provide for those who depend on me.
