Suresh was born and brought up in UP in a middle class family. To earn a living, he left his home in his early 20s.
He started his career journey working as a locksmith, making locks for vehicles in Delhi. When he first started the job in a city like Delhi, everything felt unfamiliar and strange. However, for him earning a living for his family mattered more than being with his family. He says 'Ghar ki yaad toh bhot aati thi, par paisa ke bina ghar kaise chalta'.
After working for around 3-4 years in Delhi, he, with his spouse and 3 children moved to Pune, Maharashtra. He worked under the same company however, now in a different city. Pune was farther away from UP than what Delhi was. Yet, Suresh learned the ways of the new city and worked as a locksmith for 30 more years. His kids also got their education done in Pune and two of them got married too.
After almost 34 years as an employee in the company, he was laid off as the company wanted new and younger employees to increase their productivity. Stressed, Suresh started looking out for other jobs he could do to continue earning a living and afford his youngest daughter's education.
Suresh soon found a job as an electrician and had a stable income again. His daughter went on to study a subject of her choice on a full scholarship at one of the country's top liberal universities. Suresh sees his biggest achievements in getting his kids a better future. He says ' Meri beti ko dekhke lagta hai, zindagi mai mai successful hua'.
