Madhu worked for almost four decades as a public school teacher. He taught science to high-school students. With his income, he supported two sons and his wife, a homemaker. He retired in October 2005 at the age of almost 60 years. Ever since then, the family has been supported by his pension provided by the state. His children have also been supporting their parents wherever necessary. Madhu and his spouse live a simple life with the pension received.
