Kulwinder

India

I studied for an MBBS degree and became a gynaecologist. I was ambitious and focused on my career, but my husband's job involved frequent transfers. Each time we moved to a different city, I had to find work at another hospital and get used to a new environment. I also moved to the city where I now live for my children's education. These moves meant taking several breaks from my career, which affected my promotions and professional growth.

At the time, I had not thought much about planning for retirement because my husband made all the decisions about money and savings. I was focused on my children, my family and my duties as a doctor. I did not fully understand how important it was to plan for the future and save. My pension now helps with daily expenses and gives me some security in later life. My experience has taught me the importance of financial planning, even when you have someone you can rely on.
