Khurshida

India

After marriage, along with her husband, she started a home-based business of women’s purses and jackets. She was the unspoken co-founder of the business, but loved her work as it meant she gained a skill, learned how to make money, and could contribute to her husband's success.

She was the one who was responsible for buying the raw materials, allocating work to other girls who worked to make the products, and made sure they were prepared on time and to a good standard. She learned budgeting, math, and skills like resource allocation which her younger self could never imagine, as she didn't receive any primary school education. Meanwhile her husband found clients, scheduled meetings, and got the deals. They worked like this for years.

But, after 2020 everything changed. Her husband died. There was no one who could talk to the clients. Additionally, she wasn't doing great health wise because of ear surgery she had in 2016.

She had to stop working.

After this the children she had raised with all her hard work gave her monthly allowances for her personal use, and made sure she stayed with one of them, so that her food and other requirements like medicine could be taken care of. Now, she stays in Pune with one of her sons who provides for her finances.
