I was born in 1951, in Assam. I have four children and I am currently retired. I retired in the year 2017, from the position of Chairperson of Zilla Parishad of Golaghat. I am not working right now, and I receive a pension of 47,000 rupees monthly from the state. My first job was as a teacher in the year 1975, I started working because I was passionate about teaching children. I have a degree in the sciences, so I was a science teacher. I worked in the school for a very long time, till 2011. I retired as a principal in charge. I was actually the first woman to be appointed as the principal in charge in that school. I had worked there for a long time and had finished my tenure there, I decided to retire. After that I was a part of the 17 members of the Zilla Parishad when the ministers of Assam selected me as the chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, I received a monthly income of 10,000 rupees. I stepped down from the position in the year 2017 as I had completed my tenure.
