Eugene started as a TV electrician, a job that set him apart since televisions were newly launched in India and a select few people specialised in this skill. This also allowed him to travel around Mumbai and to tune TV antennas of prominent actors, politicians and more. During this time, he often lent these services for free to members of the community, a testament to his passion for community service. He was then promoted to Engineer, where he travelled across India to fix and maintain X-ray scanners and other security systems in airports. He fondly recalls taking his children along with him to see the inner workings of technology, which later encouraged his son to take up a career in IT. Then he was promoted to Electrical Manager, where, with the support of 2 junior engineers, he advised the Mumbai Police and customs officers on how to detect illegal substances, such as narcotics, which may not be detected by the X-ray systems. In 2001, he retired from his electrical career but then decided to become a pastor and start a church to fulfil his passion for community service.
